2025 OCC GATE

Classroom Grant Information

Orange County Council for Gifted & Talented Education (OCC GATE) is pleased to announce OCC GATE Classroom Grants. This grant will facilitate a project designed to enhance GATE instruction in the classroom and will be awarded for a project that other funds do not or cannot finance (grants are up to $1,000 each). We especially enjoy funding proposals that involve unique experiences for gifted students. The OCC GATE Grant is only available to teachers from OCC GATE member districts.

OCC GATE GRANT TIMELINE

  • Submissions must be received by Saturday, October 18, 2025 by 4:00 p.m. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Grant recipients will be notified via email by Friday, October 24, 2025. 

  • Grants will be awarded on November 15, 2025 at the OCC GATE Conference.

Grant recipients will be required to send a brief article about their project and a few pictures that we will share with our OCC GATE Executive Board and highlight at the 2026 OCC GATE Conference. This article should be sent within 2 months of completion of your project and/or by August 21, 2026.

CONGRATULATIONS NATIONAL HISTORY DAY WINNER!!

We are thrilled to announce that the winning student from University High School, Zhijie (Eric) Yang, has been recognized as a National History Day Spotlight Winner! Eric received his prestigious award from the OCDE National History Day Coordinators, Julie Hull and Dr. Virginia Reischl, in a ceremony that highlighted his outstanding achievements. The Orange County Council for Gifted and Talented Education (OCC GATE) proudly supports the funding of the National History Day winning scholarship, which encourages exceptional students like Eric to pursue their academic passions in history.
